Les Holmgren

I am an Edmonton/Pigeon Lake and Mexico based artist who is following my passion to create vibrant, colourful paintings of people and places I have seen. My love of colour in my paintings is heavily influenced by my travels and life in “Mexico and Latin America”, “Canada and the United States”, “Europe”, and the “People” I have seen. The majority of  my paintings are created from my own photographs and reflect “the world through my eyes”. 

I am mostly a self taught painter however I have  taken a few courses (Group of Seven, painting on black, etc.) to help me start the painting process but I have adapted what I have learned to my own style. 

I recently won my section in the Alberta Community Arts Club Associations 2024 Alberta Wide Show

I believe it is my use of primary color in combination with the subject matter that appeals to people. I LOVE color…vibrant, brilliant color and my paintings reflect how I see the world.
